Join us July 9-10 for our 15th Annual Summer Institute at the University of Richmond, with college tours to follow on July 10 and 11!

Using a personalized setting, this event is uniquely designed to provide professional development, networking opportunities, training, and leadership development for new and mid-level college admission and counseling professionals who assist students in the transition from high school to college. The two-day institute promises a lineup of sessions of interest to both sides of the desk. 

Your participation furthers our mission to support and advance college admission professionals like yourself as you guide your institution, students, and families in an ethical manner.

Keynote Speakers:  We are excited to announce that President Ronald Crutcher and Vice President for Enrollment Management Stephanie Dupaul will deliver a “fireside chat” addressing higher education issues of access, affordability, and inclusion. As college admission professionals, what is your role in promoting these values?

Wednesday, July 11:  
College tours from 7:45am - 1:15pm

We will be visiting Virginia Commonwealth University and the University of Mary Washington.  A light breakfast and lunch will be provided.


LODGING

Lodging is included in the registration fee and will be in the University of Richmond Gateway Apartments.  Bed and bath linens are included:  fitted/flat sheets, pillow, pillow case, blanket, mattress pad, 1 bath towel, 1 washcloth, 1 bath mat – groups staying more than 2 nights receive 2 bath towels and 2 washcloths.

PCACAC/NACAC GRANT

The National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) has generously provided PCACAC with grant money to support participation of a number of school counselors who work in public school systems or at public charter schools at our Summer Institute.  Selected public school counselors will receive free registration and free PCACAC membership through September 30, 2019.  Preference will be given to counselors serving economically disadvantaged students and/or students from underrepresented populations. You do not need to be a current member of PCACAC to apply. 

The Grant Committee will review applications and notify applicants of their decision by June 8, 2018. 

If you aren't eligible for the grant, we'd still love to see you at the Summer Institute!

Thank YOU for attending our 14th Annual Summer Institute at Roanoke College in Salem, VA. The two-day Summer Institute, held July 17-18, provided professional development to new and veteran college admission and counseling professionals, with a lineup of sessions of interest to both sides of the desk (access presentations below). Some stayed on after the Institute for dinner and a tour of Hollins University on July 18, then tours of Radford University and Virginia Tech on July 19.

A Special "Thanks" to our Keynote Speaker!

Brenda Porter Poggendorf is Vice President for Enrollment and Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid at Roanoke College.  She has served in undergraduate enrollment management for over 35 years, first at Roanoke College in admissions and at Carthage College as Executive Assistant to the President and Vice President for Enrollment from 1988 to 2007.   In fall 2007, she returned to Roanoke College. Additionally, she has served as consultant to several other small private colleges. 

Dr. Poggendorf earned her B.A. from Roanoke College, an M.A.L.S. from Hollins University, and an M.B.A. and Ph.D. in education, leadership and policy studies from Loyola University-Chicago. Her dissertation was on student persistence in college. While she enjoys the art and science of recruiting and retaining students, above all she enjoys playing a small part in helping students achieve their goals.

PCACAC/NACAC Grant
