Take Action

PCACAC conducts our legislative goals and objectives through the Government Relations Committee. Working closely with NACAC, other educational organizations and state advocacy groups, the Committee provides members with information on educational polices and proposals which affect the college counseling/admission profession and other important educational initiatives. Through member e-blasts, the Committee provides members with tools to help a member express an opinion or give input to policy makers.

Virginia State Advocacy

Support School Counseling in Virginia
In September 2018, the Virginia Governor’s House Select Committee on School Safety received recommendations from its three subcommittees, among which included lowering the student-to-counselor ratio and increasing time spent delivering direct counseling services to students. The full committee will meet in early November to finalize recommendations, which will then go to the full legislature. Virginia members, encourage your delegate to support these recommendations!

Prosper Act

The Promoting Real Opportunity, Success, and Prosperity Through Education Reform (PROSPER) Act (H.R.4508) was passed out of committee by the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, and is now eligible to be brought to the House floor for debate.
